In order to inspire meaningful, long-lasting change, we must continue to learn and listen to our greatest assets: our people. We remain committed to taking targeted and purposeful action to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to a seat at the table and to thrive at work.

People powered

All our community groups are powered by our people. Active in their conversations and deliberate in their actions, they amplify diverse perspectives across the globe.

Empowering diversity and wellbeing

Diverse Race and Culture Group

This group aims to unite people of every ethnic background and heritage through shared dialogue, experiences, and goals, providing a safe space for diverse perspectives to be heard and celebrated.

Women in Energy

This is a vibrant space for women and allies to gather and discuss issues ranging from equal pay, representation of women in energy, and daily experiences. We want to see the kind of change that empowers women to be the best version of themselves.

Diverse Sexualities and Genders

Open to anyone who identifies as LGBTQA+, this is a safe space for conversation. Members of the group aim to change policies and raise awareness by breaking down stereotypes and challenging the status quo.

The Wellness Hub

This group works to develop the health, wellbeing and quality of life of all our staff. It empowers us to promote positive attitudes and values through a long-lasting commitment to wellness.

Neurodiversity and Disability Group

The members of this group have a wealth of lived experience about how neurodivergence and/or disability can impact the way we ‘show up’ at work. They aim to raise awareness of these challenges, while focusing on what makes us all great despite our differences.

Mental Health First Aiders

Our Mental Health First Aiders and Mental Health First Aid Champions give everyone the opportunity to talk about any mental health related issues or conditions. As well as listening, they can help people to access further support.

Menopause Support Group

This group provides an extra layer of care for anyone affected by perimenopause, menopause, post menopause or andropause. Being part of a group of employees who are there to support one another, share stories and give advice, gives them strength during the battle.

Parents and Carers group

A safe space for people of different intersectionalities to come together and share their experiences of being a parent and/or carer in the workplace, generate new ideas across the business and offer support and advice. We want to make work a place where parents and carers can thrive.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic I recognised how important it is to employees to feel seen, heard and empowered to contribute to the growth of SmartestEnergy. This inspired me to nominate myself as the chair of our Community Champions Steering Group.

We are proud partners of the Women's Utilities Network (WUN), an organisation on a mission to develop and encourage women within the utilities sector - a sector that has historically seen women under-represented.

We want to have an organisation that accepts and celebrates everybody for who they are. We know we get the best innovation and the best creativity by accepting and really working with each other's differences and that's really great to see across the business
